  1. Thinking off adding a second hard drive for video use. Any brands better than others for this task?
Will a second Hard drive be the best way to go for faster transfers etc?
I have a Western Digital 74 gig now. Thanks

If you plan on capturing video (especially avi), then yes a second dedicated hard drive is definitely the way to go. I use a WD 120gb and it works great

Stay with a major brand from a dealer that you can return it to if there is any problems. I have used a number of WD drives with no problem, also Maxtor and Seagate. Next is speed and speed is the name of the game here. Stay with 7200 RPM and a built in buffer of 8 megs. SCSI is better yet and that will allow you to go up to 10,000 RPM, but adds quite a bit to the cost. Minimum size would be 60 Gigs, but more is better. You can get by with as little as 20 gigs, but that can result in some real limitations in what you can do. Next is keep it clean.. don't put a bunch of data files on this drive. Use it for Video only, so that you can frequently clean it off completely (reformat). If you use it only for Video, then rebuilding your directroy structure is just a couple of mins and no problem. Currently I have seen 80 gig 7200 RPM drives on sale for under $50.00 after rebates stuff. That would be a good possibility for an economical way to go.
