  1. Hi all,

I just received a sample dvd from a company in Toronto, Canada (http://www.computeservices.com/). When I run DVDINFOPro it says that the media code is blank. When I view the full media code this is what I get:

    00000000 00 6A 00 00 01 40 C1 FD 9E D8 52 00 02 87 0E 15 .j...@....R.....
    00000010 98 9A 90 00 03 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 04 00 00 00 ................
    00000020 00 00 00 00 05 CC C0 00 00 00 01 00 06 0B 10 11 ................

Anyone run into this? These are grey/silver disks with purple writing surface. The only thing on the disk is DVD-R - 4X 4.7GB.

    Anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks,

    Dr-X

No idea. The web site says that they're OEM. One of the photos shows a carton of them with "GRADE A" written on the side. Not sure if that is any indication of how good they are.

Have you tried burning your sample yet? Burn it to full capacity and then do a read error test on it with DVDInfo Pro. Let us know the results.

If they turn out bad, grab 50 Ritek G04's for $11 CAN more from here: http://www.cty.ca

The problem is that I live in NB not ON and cty does not deliver. Do you know any other company that has similar prices and will ship?

btw...I will write to that disk tonight and see how it turns out.

  4. Just did some searching through the Media lists and found that this media code matches one for a disc called MediaCode.

That's a shame. I noticed also that your are tax free, which is a big plus. The only other one I know is blankmedia.ca but they are another $10 CAN more, plus shipping.

I'm interested in knowing how your test turns out.

  7. Well I burned the sample DVD tonight at 2X using a full 4.3gigs. It seemed to load up fine but then crapped out when selecting to play the movie from the main menu.

I ran a scan of the disk using DVDInfo and it came back with so many errors I had to stop the test cause it was running so slow.

Well I guess you get what you pay for and it is good I got the DVD for free.

Note: Burned on a LG GSA-4040B (A302) at 2X, failed reading on this drive and my DVD-ROM drive (from Dell)

    Beware!
