  1. I'm a newbie to this, so hopefully in the right place.

basically, after I burn a movie, it tends to freeze on my audiovox portable (D1705) near the end, but plays fine on X Box and PC. Has happened on 3 that I burned, all of which had some other elements besides just the main movie. Burned one with only the main movie, it works just fine (so far). I would really like them to play on the portable, for obvious reasons. I am using DVDShrink and Nero. The DVD+R's that I am using are basic CompUsa's, didn't want to spend alot while learning. They burn at 2X, won't go lower.

I would like to keep the scene selector, if possible. Any ideas on a fix?

  3. Is it possible that the region encoding could cause a problem? DVDShrink automatically encodes all regions. Just burned the same thing, same type of disk, region 1 only, seems to be working

  4. How big is your "Authoring Project File"? Some players don't like media where there is data very close to the edge of the disc. So any project that I've created that is less than 4.1GB is problem free, the larger I get beyond 4.1 the greater the chance of problem. If I literally filled up the entire DVD @ 4.4GB, more players would have problems than 4.1 or 4.2 or 4.3GB... Sometimes it is the media, some media handles the 4.3, 4.4 GB range less acceptable than others...

I would put it down to a bad disc out of your batch, if you burned the same files again on the same brand of disc and it works ok this time. Dont think region code has any bearing as you can view the film but its only the extremities of the disc that are troublesome.
Have had this problem myself with cheap media but when i slow the burn speed down and burn the same files on the same media it plays no problem.

  6. It could be a bunch of no really good disks. X Box seems to be very forgiving. Probably made that way, considering how long discs are turned on in the X box. People playing games for hours and hours. The project I burned with only region 1 is about 4.1 gb or so, and it works (so far). Will try some good media now that I sorta know what I am doing. Thanks for the help.
