  1. i have mpeg files that are like 2 gb each, 4 in total.
instead of burning 4 dvds i would like to burn them on to one disk or 2 at the most. i have downloaded dvd shrink and when i try to find the files it doesnt show them as even being there, does it not support mpeg?
Is there another program that will allow me to do this, any help would be appreciated.

the files have to be either dvd compliant mpeg 1 or mpeg2, then they must go through a dvd authoring program. dvd shrink doesn't make dvd's it rips and compresses already made dvds

Yes, what he said. You can have an MPEG2 file that is NOT DVD compliant. We will need to know the resolution (i.e. 720x480) of your MPEG files. Run them through AVIcodec or Gspot. I think you are on the right track with the 48khz thing you tried to say. Audio has to be 48khz sample rate for DVD. Tell us first about the MPEG2 files.

  6. forgive me
i tried to put a screen shot of the program and what it showed me but i have no f'in clue.
it just says mpeg file and gives me the size of the file
and something about the video file (S) --> Elecard MPEG2 Demultiplexer --> Elecard MPEG 2 Video Decoder --> (R)

  7. Not very familiar with it, I use AVIcodec. It doesn't say anything about resolution?

  9. AviCodec program shows you framesize, bitrate, time, compression, etc. Gspot program shows you what codec is needed to play that file. It might show a little more information sometimes, but very few.

Ok, you need to download the easiest authorizing program there is. TMPGenc DVD Author free trial and use it. Start the program and drag in a file, author will tell you if it's compliant or not. If it excepts the file you're in..... Create a new 'track' for each different movie. When done play with the menu creation process then output the project to a hard disk drive dvd folder. (cool huh) It's just a folder on your hard drive that imitates a DVD disk. You should try and play the project at this point with your player of choice and check it out.

With all those hours of video you crammed in author the project is way too big to fit on a single 4.7G blank (and author probably told you so) but you had the program to 'ignore this warning' and created the folder anyway. Now you can run DVD Shrink, load that folder in, and shrink it to fit a single blank. WHen shrink is finished you can burn that onto a RW disk and try it in your settop player. If you're satified then burn to an R disk for keeps, erase your RW for the next project.

All this stuff is easy if you just think about the little processes.

    Best of luck

  12. You don't haft to put all those files on 1 dvd project. WHile adding the files what the slider on the bottom of the page and you'll know how much free space you have left. You indicated you wanted the least amout of disks so i'd try all of them to start with. Everyone needs a good laugh! haha

Best of luck. You can figure it out. Just use RW blanks until you're happy with the finished product, then burn an R.
