  4. Don't go near Meritline. I ordred 8x Ritek DVD+R media from them in December. They sent me 4x Ricoh. I had a really hard time returning them and an equally hard time getting my money back.

They don't have any customer service. You order on line and hope they don't screw up your order. IF they do it will take weeks to get it straight because you can almost never talk to a real person when you call them. They do not return calls so you have to keep calling and calling. They have a really low reseller ratings rate.

I expect a shipment of Ritek 8x DVD+R from Pro Media in Arizona tomorrow.

  6. I spoke too soon. The RITEK DVD+R 8x media from Pro Action Media turned out to be the same RICOH DVD+R 4x media that Meritline sent me.

The story from Pro Action Media was different. They say what I received was actually better and that it was really RITEK but because it was new media the new 8x burners would not burn it at 8x so they (RITEK) had permission from RICOH to use their media ID on the blanks so that it would burn at 8x.

What a load...if I wanted DVD+R 4x RICOH JPN R01 002 media I could buy it at almost half the price Pro Action Media charged me. They are sending UPS to pick it up and hopefully I will have a refund soon. At least with Pro Action Media you can really talk with a person on the phone.

AS for DVD-R 8X media..you might start checking sometime around Christmas of 2004. If the 8x DVD+R is any example we may never see tru 8x media until the companies unload all of their 4x media at 8x prices.

I just got some Imation DVD+R's Saturday at OfficeMax and DVDInfo showed they were Ricoh's. They burned at 4X, so perhaps they're the same disks as yours. Now I just need an 8X drive!

  8. Not all of those RICOHs are equal. Sometimes they burn OK and others not so good. The TDK +R at Costco and CompUSA are the same RICOH R01 002.

I did find some Verbatim Datalife +R in the 15 count cake box that are made by Mitsubishi in Singapor and they are at least as good as the best RICOH +R I have used.

The quality of the 8x media could be better. I can burn the Verbatim +R at 8x and the RICOH 4x at 8x but they have varying levels of PI and PO sometimes bordering on excessive.
