  1. I have a problem...
We shot some video using two cameras and they are both Canon cameras which will allow you to record 16:9. During some confusion one of the cameras didn't have it set right and recorded regular.

The question is... in premiere or someother program, can I make the 4:3 footage fit the widescreen format without resorting to cropping. I don't wanna crop it down if I don't have to.

    Any thoughts... I am stumped.
Don't even know if it is possible.

    Thanks

  3. If it is widescreen with black bars (480 lines) then you should be able to crop 60 pixels from the top and bottom (resulting in 360 lines) and then resize to 480 lines again. Of course you will gain no resolution, but you will be able to integrate it into your other footage with little trouble and no other side effects.

But keep in mind that the resizing I am describing above is on a progressive frame. If your footage is interlaced video, then it gets more complicated. It would involve bob deinterlacing, resizing, and weaving the fields back together. Still not too bad.

Good luck. Let us know your results.

  4. The camera captures the image 4:3 but it is stretched so when you bring it into a 16:9 project it looks correct.
I have the footage that is not stretched so when I bring it into my project it looks stretched horizontally.

my footage looks like the left and should have it like the right which the other cam recorded right. So, would I be able to make my footage look like the right side pic so when I bring it into my project it will stretch back correctly?

Cropping is starting to look like the only way.

*edit* sorry I forgot it was geocities... look at the second set of pictures on the link above.
