  1. I have some PAL DVDs purchased in Europe but they will not play on a NTSC DVD player. I tried to change the region codes, but it did not help and I keep on getting an error message asking me to check the disk.
Is there a way to re-encode the PAL DVD and burn a new NTSC version of this DVD on a DVD/R?

Before you get a bunch of angry replies stating "check the forum...this has been asked before", I'll tell you the general answer.

Yes and no. You could alwasy rip the vob's to your hard drive and create an mpeg2 out of it. And then reencode that mpeg2 for ntsc and create a new dvd disc from that.

No because it would take forever to rip everything and recreate everything all over again.

A faster and somewhat cheap option is to buy a player that you can unlock and decodes pal to ntsc on the fly. My cheap GoVideo does that while my more expensive players don't. Hell I think the govideo dvd players are around 50 usually now. This is probably the best option if you have a bunch of these dvds
