Hi, I have come looking for some help.
I have had my PC for about 4 months now and all of a sudden my writer is showing power calibration error.
It usually does it on data discs when burning games or music, it gets to 5% on nero, then you can hear the drive slow down then start up again.
It will then stay on 5% until either nero will say failed or until nero crashes.
I have only had a few DVDs fail under this error so I am thinking it is maybe the data discs possibly.
I am using Datasafe Media 52x Silver Premium discs and Datawrite Classic Yellow 4x
I have had the burner out and took the cover off but couldn't see the lens so I didn't really want to start taking out other screws so I gave it a good blow to see if that would work.
I did burn 1 disc OK but it still slowed down at 5% and then carried on (maybe crossing my fingers and doing a little pray helped LOL) to finish the brun, but i still have a feeking it is going to do it again.
Do you think it is the discs, the lens, or the actual burner.
Thanks for taking the time to read my plea.

a few suggestions:
try cleaning your lens with a dvd cleaning kit.
try another burning application, the problem may possibly be nero
try various different media eg tirek, tdk etc. -
Try updating the firmware.

If you hadn't of invalidated the warranty on it, I'd have said take the issue up with manufacturer...
