  1. I'm from Australia and want some information on DVD players in the United States in relation to their region coding and their abilities to play DVDR's with no region information on the disc.

I am asking this because I will be in the U.S soon and want to buy an in-dash multimedia system for the car, Clarion VRX935VD to be precise. Now here in Australia the model is $3500 and is multi-region DVD but they have told me the the U.S models (which equate to $1400AUD) are Region 1 only. This is fine for me as I will only play DVDR's anyway, but someone said that players in the U.S made by high profile companies like Sony, Panasonic etc. etc. that are Region 1 locked, will not play discs that have no region information on them. Is this the case ? Are the region / zone laws that strict over there ? Are there multi-zone players on the American market ?

As far as Australia is concerned, our players that play Region 4 only, can still play DVDR's with no region coding on them. Any help would be great in helping me decide.
