I was have a play with my sister-in-law's Philips DVD player then I had a go of my mum's Centrex player.
They both had identical player set-up menus.
Both also played MP3 and JPEG discs so oviously use the same mainboard.

How much of this sort of thing as anyone noticed ?

Makes you wonder what is the real difference between machines.

  2. Especially on the less expensive machine brands, the only difference may be the case design or even just the Brand label.

On the cheapo Chinese made Portable DVD player, the one I bought was identical inside to the one my friend bought (even though different labels, different screen sizes) but the remotes were interchangable, the menus were identical and the DVD-Rs that would or would not play were the same.
