Do DVD recorders retain Closed Caption signal when recording from TV broadcast ? Do you have experience with this ? If yes, what is model of your recorder ?

Being Deaf, I can assure you, yes the panasonic e30 does. BTW, when you pause it, the captions stay on the screen.

I had Philips DVDR 75/17 and it recorded CC too.

I just purchased Philips DVDR75/17. Thanks to this forum I felt assured, before buying the product, that it would record closed captions. I have tons of video tapes and I wouldn't want to lose CC when I copy them to DVDs. Yes, DVDR75/17 retains CC regardless of the recording mode. The text stays on the screen during pause and slow playback.
I'm just curious as to why only a few models are mentioned above. Is that because there are only a few models that record CC or because most of them do? -
komei, I believe that it is becouse only small percentage cares about CC. For English only speaking American with good hearing it's useless.

Yes, my E-80 does. I have copied over 100 games and it does receive CC signals.
