  1. I have started using Auto Gordian Knot to convert some TV episodes to AVI (DivX, XviD). I ripped the files from the DVD to my HD using DVD Decrypter and followed the steps in the guide I found. I also need to add permanent subs. My problem is that AutoGK takes all the VOBs and makes one long AVI file. This means I have to extract the episodes out of the AVI and save as a new file.

Since AutoGK uses about four different programs, my question is can I just use VirtualdubMOD to accomplish this? Can I just open the VOB files that I want (one episode) and just convert that?

AutoGK is nice, but I'm thinking that I don't need all the tools. Any help is appreciated.

  2. There's a dead easy way around this one! Bet you're glad to hear that.

Open your VOBs in DVD2AVI. You know how to save the project as a .d2v to feed into GKnot? If you don't know about this, you may need to use Gordian Knot (the big 'un) with this guide:

    http://www.divx-digest.com/articles/dvd2divx_gordianknot.html

OK, so you're in DVD2AVI and you've opened your VOB files. Drag the slider along the bottom until you find where you want to start. Click the "[" button. Find the end, and click the "]" button. Now, just carry on a normal, saving the project. DVD2AVI will then save your selection, which will just be the episode you selected. I normally make a folder, and save all the projects in there. Then, I deal with each one individually with Gordian Knot.

    Job done.
