I have a Canon S400 digital camera that takes avi videos with sound. I am having a hell of a time converting those videos to anything else. All the programs to date that I have gotten my hands on to do the conversion don't seem to work. They either crash, report errors and on and on...... I am getting quite frustrated with this. I can't believe that its this hard to convert something that is suppose to be a standard.
Here is the information that Gspot gives me on the video.
I am running Windows 2000 as an OS incase that means anything. I would like to convert them into wmv files for streaming.
Thanks

I think that VirtualDub also has a Motion JPEG renderer built in
open a file and tick the extended options checkbox - there should be a option to use the internal M-JPEG codec
I think this is right - I'm at work and going from memory here -
Windows Movie Maker does not run on Windows 2000. I wish it did but it doesn't. I will try and see if virtualdub can make the conversion tonight.
The funny thing is that I have no problem doing these takes with Windows Media Encoder on my XP laptop.
Really annoying!
