dv to dvd

hi i am using windvd creator2 its ok when i copy to dvd on the fly using fire wire ,but when i capture to hdd to add titles author etc it wont play back in my dvd player any ideas cant afford any more coasters thanks

I have a dv cam as well, I always, capture to the hard drive and then edit how I want. It requires a lot more time though. I use Adobe Premiere to create a timeline, then export it to mpeg 2 (.m2v & .mpa), then using a authoring program like dvdlab to creat the menus and output it to the right files needed for the final dvd.
