I'd be a billionaire if you could get money out of this

Should be interesting to see how it turns out

  2. Normally I just spam them right back.

With an email bot and my broadband connection I can send 1000's of emails in the space of a few hours to these companies.

  3. My motivation is to get this spam stopped
Nothing to do with the $600,000 then

  4. It's amazing how they always say that "this person has requested these e-mails". Apparently, I would be interested in a a mortgage, credit cards and penis enlargement pills.

The last time I checked, I lived in Uni accommodation and I won't be able to afford a mortgage for years to come. I don't remember wanting a whole plethora of credit cards - I'm happy with my Barclaycard. Enough trouble there for a student, anyway. And penis enlargement pills?! How can they keep a straight face when sending those?

It's about time they made spamming illegal. Outright, completely and utterly illegal. Gimps.

    Rant over......

I usually reply and tell them that I didn't sign up for anything and that their email to me was spam. Since they added me themselves they could remove me themselves and if I received anymore email from them I would be forced to respond to them in anyway I deem necessary.

If I get another one from them, even an appology for me being on their list, then I just bomb them.

Sometimes it takes some time to get a real email address because their address is not real. In such case looking through the emails headers will get you an IP address and you can trace them from there.

I also have a program called mailwasher and it allows me to bounce emails back to them like my email address doesn't exist. If it will bounce their email address is real and I can bomb them directly to that account. If it won't bounce then I have to do some leg work.

If they have a hotmail or other popular http email then you can just go to that login and tell them you forgot the password and many of them now just reset the password.

It would be nice the spams pay me money every time I receive them. This would give me decent living.

This would solve the annoying unwanted email messages and they, the sender pay for the service just like a stamp on a letter. This would fix them.

I tried this telling them they as spam and this usually doesn't work. Sometimes can get into arguments and abuse from them suggesting to me that the email promos as legal even though not authorized having my address.

All spams are illegal to me and they are just like an uninvited guess at the door of your home. I slam the door shut to them by using anti-spam filters in an email address such Hotmail. They are locked out.

Never respond to any spam, not ever. Otherwise, you'll get more junk mail. Never, open them and you must delete them. Block them when you can.

I got to the ultimate level of spam when I began to recieve notices that my email was being returned. Seems the spamers were using my email address and name to send porn ads to other people and sites. I was forced to eliminate my main username and change it or risk being kicked off my ISP for sending porn. Probably my fault for going places I should'nt. But pretty scarey. It pays to have more than one username for e-mail. At least I saved my primary username. The spam people found a way to send me crap without my email address, just a generic to my ISP. I would recommend every filter you can and more than one e-mail address.

    Chris -

I agree that the warning doesn't work, the main purpose behind the warning is to make sure it is a valid email address. If they reply to me then I know it is, so from there I take the email address to work with me (T1 connection), load up a proxy program that I downloaded from Analog X, load up avalanche and send them 20 emails a second (I think, it's been a while) and I let that run for a while. The most I have ever let it run was for a full weekend. But I never heard from that spammer again.

I think the best way to avoid spam is to sign up for anything on the web using a hotmail address. But you will still get spammed at home by people using just a word generator sending emails to every possible combination of letters and numbers.

The spammers are bad enough, but the people who really get me bent out of shape are those damn search bars and home page changers who hijack you via scripts or misleading boxes. I had one of those recently, that was fun to get rid of...jerks. And I got it just cruising around through non-pornographic sites!!!

I agree mate and I deliberately use Hotmail to sign up anything due to its filters. This way stops the spams from getting to me. They do tend to send heaps of promo junk when they get hold of my address.

  11. Try Spampal for filtering out spam on your pop3 account. I have installed it and am very pleased with it. Has filtered out 500 spam emails in the 7 days I have had it installed.
