What's the weather like where you are.
I'm sweating here, got fans running, house open, trying to not turn on the A/C yet.

    This is crazy. It's winter!

  5. Wet, been raining, high probably 50. Overcast and dreary all day. Pretty miserable.

Good to hear it's nice there. We'll have that weather in about 4 months or so.

I don't think I've felt temperatures that low in a decade. Not here.

40-50F It was like 20F one day in December and the next it was over 60F. I wish the weather would make up its mind so we could get a few feet of snow then I could go snowboarding .

It's -20C here today also (-30C with windchill). Going to be much the same through the weekend and into next week.

Funny thing about Calgary is that it could be as high as +20C on any given winter day.

Supposed to hit 62 Saturday, off and on rain showers.

It could stay like this till spring then warm up, far as I'm concerned.

My sympathy to Lordsmurf for the heat wave, and to our Swede and Canadian friends for the cold they're undergoing.

Which is it supposed to be, global warming or cooling? Couple weeks ago, 10 degrees below normal.

    Ah, well.

It got down to 0°F here last week, then it was up to freezing for the weekend and the New Year, but the wind just picked up tonight and with the high winds we're supposed to get down to -10°F with 25 knot winds. Finally we get some cold weather. That cold air is fantastic for engine/aerodynamic performance

    Rallynavvie, and others,

In this thread, it would help if you hinted what general area of the world you are in. If you're in Greenland, it doesn't mean as much as if you're in Uniontoen, 40 miles SW from me. Greenland, I would expect it..I can see such a discrepancy.

    Cheers,

    George

Oop, Minnesota here. We get all sorts of fun weather
I remember last year it went from 60°F to below freezing in a matter of 32 hours. Supposedly it has to do with being in the middle of the continent that ocean weather fronts don't stabilize our weather as much as they do when you're closer to the coast. Think Siberia... But then I'm a fan of cold weather.

Oh, and it's only 10°F here right now. With the windchill probably below 0.

    Curryman,

Is your keyboard broken? You MUST have misspelled your town's name.

If you didn't, it must be a mother to pronounce!!!

Very hot outside right now as near 100°F and I am just on the fringe of Sydney, Australia.

It is getting too much for me now and the heat is already making me sick.

I can't wait for grey skys to return and some rain to cool down here. It is expected to rain on Tuesday in Sydney.

Unfortunately for me, the heat is going to return and to get much worse soon.

I'll have a lay down to sleep to get over it.

It is very dry and very hot here in Australia as it is the driest continent known on this planet. I'll won't be living in Australia forever and I'll be leaving someday to cooler and much greener lands.

    Curryman,

    I'd believe you.

The smilies were to take the edge off. I read a lot (constantly) and have seen many oddly spelled Welsh place names.

Odd to others, that is, perfectly normal to a speaker of the language, if there are many left.

I think you have one of the longest, unpronouncable place names, also. Hit the record books somewhere.

To the weather, Saturday was supposed to be 62 F, scattered showers, rained the whole day, raining all day today, also, still in the 50's.

Only good thing is, if it were snow, it'd be 2 feet deep, half a metre or more. That I do not need.

    Cheers,

    George

It's dropped ten degrees per day since this post. It's now 37 deg (F) outside. Winter again.

Gone from heat to windows/fans to AC to windows/fans to heat again... all within a week.

The temperature have gone down outside now as I was suffering the heat on Saturday Jan 3rd. It is now a pleasant 75°F with clouds and little shower.

The weather in Sydney is expected to rain tomorrow before returning to sunny days towards Friday.

When I left work late last night it was down to -8°F without the windchill. Made a stupid mistake and left my dome light on for a few hours so my battery was near dead and couldn't get the car started. Fortunately I have a second battery as backup and was able to hit the switch in the car and start using that one

Up in Grand Forks where I went to school they had temps getting down to -40°F with the windchill. Ah, I remember those days. They didn't even cancel school unless you couldn't see more than 20 feet in blizzard conditions. Only had school cancelled once due to the weather and the twats closed the dining halls forcing the students to find other means. So they cancel school because it's too dangerous to be out in the weather but then we can't eat unless we go out in it. Obviously class was canceled so that the professors didn't have to drive to work in that weather
