  1. I have a GBA SP and I would be surprised if no one else here has one (or their kid has one)!

I have found a marvelous device for playing movies on our luggable lover it is available from

    http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?category=246&products_id=3983&

It takes compact flash cards and unlike the official one which takes smaller smart media cards and requires you to buy specially made and coded cards with one episode on this unofficial device does not need any special cards and can take any compact flash card.

Also the compression used in not very good as the gba /sp only has a 240x160 pixel screen and the video file extension is *.gbm and requires a special program ( on the cd ) to convert vcd, mov, avi, mpg, ram etc...

The compression is not very good as it manages to have 20minutes of video for 40mb so an mb to minute ratio of about 2:1

    Screen quality apparently is good!!

I am planning to buy one with a 256mb cpf card

Lucky to the peeps with 1/3Gb microdrives

  2. Whoa that's sweet. I wonder what this gbm file actually is, if it's some form of mpg compression or it's own technology.. or who knows..

But for the price i'm definately going to be buying one. Now if only the sound out of the gba was worth a damn it might actually be worth buying it instead of just having it for the heck of it.

Anybody have any more info on the gbm format? or a file that is already converted that they could upload that we could analyze?

  3. I'll upload the two files *.gbm (the movie file) and *.gbs (the sound file)

I think that's the right way around - then you can analyze them

you can get the files fromHERE!

please note that these files are at the lowest possible quality

  4. jeez.. I can't figure anything out about these files.

If only I had the source for the encoder.dll

It doesn't seem to call any other codecs or programs while operating so it must be it's own codec, or a modified version of a free one.

the hex gives me no clues, and no program i have can open them.

I'm just kind of curious as to what they are using.
