  1. I'm getting a power calibration error trying to write at 4x on the above drive on the following media:

    Datawrite yellow:
    00000000 00 42 00 00 01 40 C1 FD 9E D8 52 00 02 F7 0E 0B .B...@....R.....
    00000010 77 88 70 00 03 50 52 49 4E 43 4F 00 04 00 00 00 w.p..PRINCO.....
    00000020 00 00 00 00 05 AA A2 22 22 20 01 00 06 0B 0F 12 ......."" ......

I've tried herries 1.08 'holiday edition' and the official 1.09 firmware. Neither will burn these at 4x, at 2x they attempt to burn but always get errors later on when closing.

Anyone succesfully burning these media? I should add that I have no problems burning other media, -RW, +RW, +R etc.

    Princo sucks...

Power Calibration often means it cant decide how to burn the disc. Try other media.

  3. Yes well.

I have 70 of these, and I'd quite like to use them if possible.

You can throw them away now or mess around for weeks and then throw them away.

My 1300a is a great workhorse. It is also a picky animal, it doesn't like cheap media. Try a firmware update, but don't hold your breath.

Errors on closing has a simple fix. Make your DVD backups 4.1 GB not 4.3 GB, and the problem should go away. If you treat Princo's as 4 GB instead of 4.1, they usually work. They are notorious for not working at the very end (lead out).

You can use them for data backup possibly.

Also try to burn at a lower speed to help the disc's out...
