  1. I have a weird issue with tmpgenc today. i am converting a 1 hour capture. normally that would take around 2 - 2 1/4 hours. today it took 4 1/2 hours??? i checked all the settings and they are the same as normal. the source file is the same as normal, and nor software or new hardware has been installed in a week or 2. could this be a sign that my cpu, ram or hard drive is starting to die?

    thanks for your help

  2. Maybe your system is getting fragmented and cannot write to the disk as fast? How long has it been since you defragmented?

  3. the drive is always cleaned everyday, and the files burnt to cd. about 20 minutes after posting this it picked back up and went to normal speed again, something must of been hogging the resources, i think i'll run my spyware scanner to make sure nothing is there, if not i'll just keep an eye on it, and when it does it again, i'll look to see whats causeing the hogging of the cpu.

    thanks for your help

I find it pays off to re-boot prior to encoding and upon getting to your desktop load just what you need to load (aka TMPGEnc) to do your encoding.

Everytime you open a program and close it ... well maybe not everytime ... but often times something is "left" somewhere in the task manager under PROCESSES and that CAN'T be good!
