  1. I was in CompUSA today and they had a sale going on for a 25 pack of the CompUSA 2.4X DVD+R media for $20. I bought one 25 pack and burned one just fine on my Magnavox recorder. Checking the disc with DVDinfoPro I see they are made by "Optodisc", is this a good brand (never used these before)? Anyway if they burn well in my NEC burner I may pick up another 50 at that price.

I bought a spindle of 25 back in November and they seemed to burn and verify fine. So, for Christmas my three year old son got me 3 spindles of 10 each (30 total).

I'm having all of kinds of read errors trying to read them back in my DVD-ROM drive. I'm getting the famous "Cyclic Redundancy Error". I'm able to copy them back in my DVD+/-RW Drive (Sony DRU-500a w/firmware 2.0f) to my hard drive and write the data to a more reliable media. Bottom line is that I'm staying away from the COMPUSA DVD+R 2.4x media.

    Hi,

I have only minor problem with Octodic , I can burn 9/10 (1X) with Pioneer D106, my friend using TDK and can burn 7/10.
If you need good deal from Octodisk, go to http://www.softwareandstuff.com/h_med_optodvdrinkjt.html

if you live in San Jose, CA then you can pick it up there cheaper.

If I were you, I will go to Office Depot, check out my post at:

I also get 9/10 with the CompUSA (Octodic). But, the problem comes in when I try to read them back in my DVD-ROM drive. Concerning TDK DVD-Rs (2x), so far I get 100% good burns with 100% read back in my DVD-ROM. They also play well in me standalone DVD player. Also, I get 4x burns with the 2x media.
