  1. I have a 1hr and 40min PAL Divx Avi movie I would like to convert to NTSC to watch on my DVD player.
I tryed using my video editer (Vegas) to convert the file but it will take up to 12hrs to get it done. Anyone know a program that is fast @ converting from PAL to NTSC?
I do have TMPGnc but am looking for something faster still and will produce the same or a little lesser quality video.

  2. download dvd2svcd (use the avi template)

cce is faster than tmpgenc (cce basic is about $70 and gives you one pass).

I have unconverted some of my divx movies and with tmpgenc crappiest setting vcd (quicker vcd than cvd or svcd), I can pull it off in about 2 hours).

  4. well, if you dvd player can play it (check on the left to see if your dvd player can play other formats), you might want to consider converting to vcd, svcd, cvd, or even dvd. An easy rule of thumb:

    if the avi rez is:

    less than 352x240 - VCD
    hovering near 352x240 - vcd
    around 480x480 SVCD
around 480x480 and you want to make a DVD - CVD (352x480 48mhz)
    around 720x480 - dvd

tell me the physical specs of the avi, basically:

    bitrate -
    audio -
    resolution -

dvd2svcd has settings that let you make a vcd, cvd, svcd, or dvd compliant video.
