  1. I purchased the LG 4040B as a DVD burner for my 2nd computer. My first has a Pioneer A05 and I've been more then pleased with the A05....

The LG installed easily and I was able to to write video and data to DVD-R, DVD-Rw and Ram discs using Nero 6.0 and the Ram writing software supplied.... This computer is very stable (WinXP SP1, 512 menory, Atlon 2500 Barton)....

The only problem I'm having is running the supplied NeoDVDPlus software.... When I attempt to run it I will get an error "NeoDVD.exe - Application Error" sometimes it will say "NeoDVDPlus.exe - Application Error". I checked their (NeoDVD) website and downloaded and installed a patch for the LG 4040B burner but that did not resolve the issue.... I tried running NeoDVD in Windows98 and Win2000 compatiblity mode but to no avail....

A few times NeoDVD rebooted my pc after displaying the error....

Other software (games, CoolEdit, Tmpgenc Mpeg, TmpgEnc DVD Authoring, Sonic MyDVD, Nero 6, etc) all work flawlessly....

Any ideas or is this software just buggy ????

This program is very buggy !
I would stay well clear of it and try something like Ulead Movie Factory 2 instead.
It's rock solid on my system and does a decent job of making menus.
I've had no problems with it using my LG 4040B burner.

I've got the same drive.....same software. DON'T LIKE NeoDVD. The B's Clip software is OK....just not Neo. I still haven't got my RAM disc to work either....but that might be a bad disc.....don't miss it much anyway.

    @ hech54,
I wouldn't waste my time with DVD-RAM if I were you.
It's not all it's cracked up to be.
For a start you've got to take the disc out the caddy to use it in the LG 4040B which kind of blows the "more robust" argument out the water.
Secondly, I can't seem to get it to write at more than 1x despite the manual claiming it can write at 3x.
It doesn't appear to read any faster than any other DVD.
So unless you've got a set-top recorder which uses RAM I would forget it.

Thanks for the info. I guess that makes two people who aren't losing sleep over not being able to use RAM Driver,,,,
I also know why Neo sucks....it it too close to Nero.

Have you tried reinstalling?, I had the same problem, removed the application completely, reinstalled now it works without problems.(It did not install correctly the first time) I think NeoDVDplus is a fairly decent product, better than the comments and ratings its got on this site. Yes you have to manually set your chapters, and your menus are limited, but it has a decent burning engine, and is very similar to MovieFactory2 once you learn to use it. Not bad for something that came with the burner.
Just shut up and listen dumbass

  7. Yeah, I completely removed it and re-installed it on my computer with the LG4040B burner BUT I'm having the same issues....

    PC is WinXP Pro, sp1. Athlon 2500+, 512 DDR memory, LG4040B DVD-R/+R/Ram ....

However my 2nd pc is an Athlon 1800, 640 SDR memory, Windows2K, sp4, Pioneer A05 DVD-R and it installed and woks flawlessly on it.

The LG site has two patches for NeoDVD

    http://ca.lgservice.com/index_b2c.jsp

One is for Updater file for Neo DVD Plus 5(ver 574D) and other is Updater file for Neo DVD Plus 5(ver 585G) ... I checked my copy of NeoDVD and I can not find these version numbers....Any ideas ???

    TIA
