Hi, I am trying to convert a divx movie to dvd. The avi's aspect ratio is 4:3 but full screen, not letterboxed. When converting I set avisynth filters for:

    BiCubicResize(480,360)
    AddBorders(0,60,0,60)
    ConvertToYUY2

But with the letterbox bars the picture looks slightly squished. How do I set this up for full-screen with correct aspect ratio? Thanks

With PAL resize to 720x576, With NTSC resize to 720x480!!
Set output to 4:3 in your encoder. Do not add borders.
With DVD playback software it will playback at 4:3!!

You can't turn a 4:3 video into widescreen unless you chop off the top and bottom which of course makes no sense UNLESS you are absolutely positive that it is an open soft matte picture then you could do it otherwise you would be cutting off vital picture from the top and bottom.

Simply resizing it doesn't work as you found out it makes everyone look "fat" and "squished".
