I am in the UK and want to send DVD-R's made on my Panasonic E50 DVD recorder to friends who live near Perth.
They dont have a DVD yet so I need to know where they could get the cheapest one that will play my DVD-R's?
Also will it work with and old TV?
They do cheap players here in supermakets her, do they do the same there?
They dont have a PC so no buying of the net.
Any info apprecaited

I don't think any DVD Recorder puts a Region Code on it's creations....and PAL is PAL no matter what continent you are on....so I'd say MOST of the battle is won so far.

Thanks, but region code is not the problem.
The Panasonic E50 makes a DVD-R with its own menu which makes it not as compatible as a computer made DVD-R. -
Yes you can pick up cheap stand-alone DVD players in department stores, supermarkets, electronic stores etc. for example 'DSE' has stores all over the country inc. Perth and suburbs - it gives you an idea of some of the local choices.

They can also check out stores like KMART, BIGW, BINGLEE, to name a few.
They may have some difficulty if their TV is very old and doesn't have at least RCA sockets.
Also some DVD players only have s-video out, which old TVs don't support so they need to be careful in their choice.
But if they are running a VCR at present they may be OK.
Stores will generally let you try a DVD disk in the player before you buy so it would be a good idea to send them a sample first so they could check it in the preferred player. It seems an oddity, but often the cheapest players seem to support the most disk variations.
