  1. ok here goes.downloaded trial mf2 & it worked fine, just what i was looking for,so went out & purchased it.installed this one & its taking an age to render(6 hours for 3.8gb of video).all i have done is add a menu screen & two chapter selection screens.so,i downloaded the latest software patch & this cured the problem but has created another!!!! now it renders in good time but when i import my 3.8gb dvd it now tells me that this is 6.8gb (imposible because its from a dvd 5 4.7gb -r disc) god knows whats going on here but it sure is doing my nut in.please if someone can help me or has had similar problems this would enable me to sleep again.& yes the box -do not encode complient MPEG files- has always been checked.

  2. Hi,

I suggest you deinstall/reinstall MF2 completely to remove old dlls from the trial.

If you take a "normal" mpeg file (not a vob from a dvd !) does the same happen ?

Try to select the "Custom profile" and set the audio compression to Mpeg instead of LPCM, select a higher bitrate than the one of the imported clip.

a bit more info here.i'm recording VHS to DVD with stand alone DVD-recorder,thats why i chose MF2 so i havent tried MPEG file.i'v gone back to the version i purchased with no latest update patch so its not saying my DVD is 6.8Gb anymore.now, the prob with rendering only happens if i trim the start &/or end of the video.if i dont trim, the output stage goes through its process as it should.if trimmed the output stage says "converting video" & its this that takes forever.only trimming 10/20 secs off each end.hope this info can shed a bit more light.
    thanks again.

  4. Are you ripping the VOB files to your Hard Drive first??? If not I highly recommend doing so with DVD Decrypter. Accessing the VOB files on the DVD disc may be what is taking so long. I have MF2, but I recently started using NERO 6 to edit my stand alone DVD recorded material.
MF2 does not support AC3 audio. It will pass it through, but forget about trying to edit VOB's directly with it. If all you want to do is add chapters and menus, then MF2 will work! If you want to actually edit VOB files then i suggest going with something like Nero 6, DVD lab or TMPGEnc DVD Author.

Nero 6 has done a great job for me, and it comes with alot of other great tools such as Recode 2.

  6. You need to determine the specific properties of the MPEG *video* and *audio* recorded by the stand alone DVD recorder.

I have the Toshiba D-R1 stand alone DVD recorder.

My Toshiba recorder records DVD discs with *video* and *audio* properties as follows:

    NTSC drop frame (29.97 fps)
    MPEG files
    24 Bits, 720 x 480, 29.97 fps
    Field Order B
    (DVD-NTSC), 4 : 3
Video data rate: Constant (9000 kbps)
    Audio data rate: 384 kbps
    AC-3 Audio, 48 KHz, 2/0(L,R)

How do the properties of the files recorded by your DVD recorder compare?

You can determine the precise properties of your clips by right-clicking on them in Ulead DVD MovieFactory 2.

Then click MEDIA CLIP PROPERTIES to obtain a properties read-out.

Note that my Toshiba recorder uses AC-3 STEREO AUDIO, which is not supported by Ulead DVD MovieFactory 2 standard version.

So I use Ulead DVD Workshop AC-3...

Or I use Ulead MediaStudio Pro 7.01...

    http://www.ulead.com/msp/runme.htm

DVD Workshop and MediaStudio Pro support AC-3 Stereo Audio.
