I'm a newbie here, so bear with me. I want to buy a notebook that can burn DVDs and for playing some games. I'm looking at maybe the Sony Vaio FRV37 but it only burns -R/RW. Or I was thinking of the Emachines M531, since the wide screen looks nice, and buying a seperate +/- multi drive (Pioneer or Sony perhaps?) I would like some opinions from the experts here which would be best or is there different features I should look for if I want something that can burn dvds?

I bought my laptop without a burner as I have other PCs that do that better and are more adaptable to different formats and upgrades. The one big drawback to a laptop is that it is difficult or impossible to upgrade the hardware. I do have a Pioneer 104 in a external box that has both Firewire and USB 2 inputs. Unless you really need portability, this is one way to go. I got USB2 and Firewire cardbus cards for about $30US each and now I have lots of options for upgrades. Not suggesting you go this way, but it is one alternative. Even if I change laptops, I can still use any burner or external drive that I can put in a box. Lots of newer laptops have these ports onboard already.
