  1. Hi ALL!

    I bought & downloaded a video from http://www.divx.com/jefflew/
on Animation and i want to backup onto DVD-R.

I have tried a few guides but non of the prog's ( AviCodec, virtual dub, TMPGEnc, YAAI etc ) will recognise the format??? ( when opend from a program, it looks as it's an Windows Media AVI file, but wont open, & if you just open the folder itself it looks like a DIVX movie file icon)

Does anyone know what format these files are in? I know i can just back the DIVX file up onto CDR's or 1 DVD in DIVX format but i would like to like to be able to watch on TV aswell. (it's NTSC format i'm sure but in 640x480 but i would like to make it into PAL if possible aswell)

Has anyone else had this problem or heard of this problem, better yet know how to correct this problem?

    Thanks in advance

(The demo's of this vid say on the site that they are in DIVX 5.1) you can find the movies at www.divx.com/movies

    It's proprietary and encrypted.

I went and tried to download the demo from that link. It is a file with a TIX extension. Does your file have this same extension (TIX)? If so this is some kind of video on demand format. This means you do not actually have the video, it is streaming to you in the background. If this is the case then I would suggest trying to find the streaming temp files and work from there. Sometimes you can change the extension on them to AVI etc... and get them to work.

If this is not the case (yours is not TIX) then I would suggest posting it up somewhere and maybe someone will take a crack at it. How large is the file you have (both minutes and megs)?

  6. thanks for the info,
I'm not to sure on where to find and how to change TIX extension ( if it is a TIX etxension ) or the streaming files.

this is the 1st time i have ever bought a video online!

When i did go to open the file from the folder it's situated in, i got the options down to 4 for e.g "divx, div, tix,mp4" so i guess it's 1 of those fomats

What program/s can i use to veiw & change the extension etc?
The file size is (1hr 30 mins - 467mb) so quite large to post up
