Anyone know the answer (or the correct method) of putting jpegs onto a CDR for playback on a TV thru' a DVD player?

Why am I asking , well digital camera's CCD's use square pixels (like pc monitors) and TV's dont. Don't you need 768 horizontal pixels on the pc to equal 720 horizontal pixels on a TV (with the vertical remaining at 576 on both).

So if I'm burning a CDR of jpegs for use with a standalone DVD player and TV what is the correct resolution for the following taking into account the unsquare TV pixels.

    a) a 4:3 resolution TV

    and

    b) a 16:9 resoltion TV (both PAL)

If down sizing the original pictures (2048 X 1536) to ~ X ~ which is the best method of resizing? Bilinear, Bicubic, S-Spline, etc?

Or do I just slap the pics on a cdr and let the dvd player do it ? And what method would a DVD player use?

PS, can the low res mini-movies (QTime) taken with the camera be converted to mpeg/mpeg2 and put on the same CD?

  2. I've never tried to do this, but I woul assume the player wopuld know that the jpg is 1:1 and the tv is 4:3 and make the appropriate adjustment.......
This must be how they work otherwise playing jpg's would be useless.

    Thanx for the quick replies

Dunno.... do DVD players auto correct jpeg pixels from 1 X 1 pixel size to 1 X 1.06 (51:54 PAL) TV pixel ratio?? I know TV-out (from a pc does) but standalones?

What about resizing the original images? Anyone know?
