I'm working on a project and want to grab short, 5-10 second clips from various DVDs, and use them in my own video.
I've read various guides about ripping, etc. but they all refer to ripping an entire DVD and then "backing it up" to another. I was hoping there was some way to just extract bits and pieces and save myself a little time. Any ideas? thanks.

This guide combined with 'Start-End' frame will do (and its free) -
Use Virtual Dub to load your VOBs from your DVD. Edit the footage and save as an AVI or frameserve to TMPGEnc.
Another way is to load the VOB into TMPGEnc MPEG tools, and demultiplex them into m2v and mp2 streams.Hello.
