    I got a Plextor 708A! I'm happy with my purchase. Compuplus.com has it for $192.00. www.compuplus.com

As with all dvd burners they have pros and cons. If you read the forum for dvd writers you can see that every brand has their share of problems. They could range from software, firmware, & hardware conflicts & depending on the brand of dvd media you use to burn dvds.

  4. Read the guides, there is no right answer mind you.

I have a Sony DWU-14A and have had no hassles. Others wear on the Pioneer. Take you pick, take the plunge and good luck!

I'm running NEC ND-1300A since a coupla weeks, and am very satisfied with it. Cheapest dual format I could find but no problems so far, using both Windoze and Linux. Just pulled out the Plextor CD writer and hooked up the NEC in its place. Been thru 2 firmware upgrades already!

My 4040B has yet to give me a bad burn. It is no longer the fastest burner on the market (IF it ever was) but mine has been buttetproof so far on both + and - media. The RAM aspect?....never tried it.

I have a Pioneer DVR-106D similar to the A06 which burns brilliantly on all the media I have used . However some good DVD burning software will be needed , I didn't even know that Roxio still made awful easy CD Creator
