  1. Don't start giving me crap about widescreen being better. I just wanna know if any hardware DVD players can force Pan & Scan. PowerDVD can do it on PC. There should be a hardware player out there somewhere that can do it.

AFAIK, ALL DVD players can force P&S/4:3 of anamorphic widescreen material.
Now, some shows have the letterboxing bars encoded as part of the video, those you're out of luck unless you can use either your DVD player or your TV to Zoom In the right amount.

Hi Viper187. The Panasonic RV-32 has a 4:3 Zoom Function. It works perfectly. If it has ratio of 2:35:1 then it makes it a 1:85:1 ratio. If it has a 1:85:1 ratio it makes it fullscreen. Much better for viewing.

    Enjoy!

  4. Thanks, but I haven't seen any place selling the RV-32. Are there any other players that definitely have this option? The Zenith DVB-312 seems to imply it... "4:3, 16:9 and pan and scan TV aspect ratio selection." Can anyone confirm?

I've never seen a DVD player that will force 4:3 from a 2:35 letterbox. The menu option does nothing. The player is going to obey the instructions in the disks ifo files. If the ifo file says 2:35 that's all you can display. the zoom function help turn 2:35 into 1:85.
