  1. Model is now listed: http://www.tacp.toshiba.com/dvd/product.asp?model=rd-xs52

Not clear when it's really available though for sale (like JVC DR-MH30...).

Futureshop Canada sells the 32 so I'll have to assume they will get the 52 in as well. I'll have to ask the people in the video department...

  3. Unfortunately it seems the RD-XS52 doesn't support DVD-RW anymore. That's pretty stupid knowing that most computers don't support RAM (so you would have to waste DVD-R).

  4. Does anyone have any experience with this Toshiba model yet? Except for the lack of RW support it seems fully featured.
Does this model suffer from the black level bug?
    Thanks

I recently purchased this model mainly because I subscribe to satellite TV and I was looking for a recorder that had an IR sensor. The sensor is placed in front of the satellite box and will change the channels when you use the "timer recording" feature. That works great.
However, I am disappointed in the fact that the DVD that is recorded off of this unit is not compatable with all DVD stand alone players. The DVD's that I make play in my Sony standalone. But they don't play in my friends' DVD players (JVC, Panasonic, GoVideo).
I am still within the 30 day warranty but don't want to turn the unit back because of the IT feature. Does anyone know of another unit that will perform the same changing of the channels?
    Thanks.
