  1. Here's my first post..hopfully i'm not going to upset anyone Here goes..
I want to take a DVD and edit out say 5 mins of the movie. I've burned and ripped dvds fine. My problem is if I rip the single vob I want to edit and then demux Audio and Video are out of sync when pulled into final cut pro and I have to render the entire file to even start editing. I discovered DvdxDV which seemed to solve the sync problem if I selected "detect variable frame rate" but it doesn't export AC-3 and with the most recent version the quality seemed much worse. And..I've never actually gotten around to editing and the exporting and putting it all back together. Is anyone out there doing the same/similar things and can offer any ideas? I really appreciate all guidence on this. thanks. 8)
-sorry..one other thing. Can anyone explain whydetecting the variable frame rate would help..or what it is..or other programs that would do the same thing? thanks.

  2. I use Miraizon Cinematize for this. Generally the audio/video sync is just fine, but for those difficult cases they have some info in their FAQ. Usually, if you just use QuickTime Pro and combine the audio and video using Add Scaled it works well. This is I believe the same solution DVDxDV uses with its variable frame rate option.

I'm offended (err, upset). . . you would actually cut pieces out of a movie? Why not buy your movies from the family dvd network, family flix or Cleanfilms, and then you won't have to subject your virgin eyes to the material you are so offended by, to the point that you are willing to butcher someone else's artwork...
I like systems, their application excepted. (George Sand, translated from French), "J'aime beaucoup les systèmes, le cas d'application excepté."
