Did my friend a favor and installed Windows XP on his hard drive using my computer in a master slave configuration. (his as slave) My problem is that now every time I turn on my computer it asks me which one of the 2 OS's I want to boot up. If I don't choose, by default it picks his which is no longer installed of course. Meaning I get an error message and have to restart my computer and choose my OS. How can I configure it so this doesn't happen each time I boot up?

you only need to post it once
need to edit your boot.ini file "C:\boot.ini"
Example:
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(1)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(1)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="Microso ft Windows 2000 Professional" /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="Microso ft Windows 2000 Professional" /fastdetect
The second line that starts with "multi"is your original install and the one right above it is the second install. The line that starts with "default" points to the 1st one, you need to change it to the second.
You need to know what you're doing because if you do it wrong your system will not boot. -
Or you could try this, it's a little easier.
Right click "My computer"
Properties
Advanced Tab
Startup and Recovery "Settings"
Uncheck "Time to display List of operating systems: 30 Seconds
Change the OS to the one that works in the pull down
Click ok
Restart your computer to see if it works.
If it doesn't then you'll have to what STILTMAN said. -
