Pioneer A06 & Nero 6 & DVD-R

Unable to resolve this issue by my lonesome, and as such here I am. Heres the issue I've got. Using Nero 6.x.x.19,23 I am able to burn TDK DVD+R at 4x with no issue at all. With 2x media and DVD-R I am able to use Nero as the program. Issue comes to play when I use 4x branded DVD-R media. Nero begins the process of burning, in terms of displaying the burn process page. The DVD burner shows "Ready" and thats as far as it goes. About 5 seconds later my system becomes completely unresponsive, and the titlebar for Nero shows "not responding" I am unable to open any programs or switch to anything else. Cntl - alt - delete does nothing and I am forced to manually shut down my pc. I have tried 4 different media for DVD-R including memorex, great quality, fuji and another named brand. The older 2x rated DVD-R works fine with Nero. I have found a workaround by using DVDClone which is able to burn to the same media at 4x with no issue. Nero had me run the removal tool for their program and reinstal but the same issue remained.

To sum up...
Nero 6.x.x.x
2x DVD-R - ok
4x DVD-R - locks system
2x,4x DVD+R - ok
DVD+RW - ok.

Winxp Pro SP1 all patches
AMD 1300
512MB Ram
Asus A7V m/b
Drive is primary on its own channel with no slave.

This may be a long shot. I'm thinking maybe the files that you used for burnig on the 4X DVD-R were not 100% compliant per Nero's own standards.

If you have a VIEO_TS folder that you have burned successfully on a 4XDVD+R media, maybe you can try to burn the same folder on a 4XDVD-R media to eleiminate the possibility of non-compliant video files.

Thanks for the suggestion, I did try that before when my system locked I realized the wrong media (the 4x -R) was in. I replaced the media after rebooting my system...and to add more info if I just reset my system after it locks as opposed to a hard shut off...I cannot eject the DVD drive. It has to be power cycled. I also have tried 2 different firmware versions..1.05 and 1.07 with the same issue.

I wonder if you could give me a hand. I have got a Pioneer 106D DVD writer. I am trying to burn a movie with nero. I am fine up to the stage it shows burning in process ect. I left it for about 2 hours and nothing happened so i turned it off. I have the DVD file saved on my hardrive. I am trying to burn it straight to DVD recorder but can not do it.

any advise would be much appreciated.
