I did a quick search but didn't find the answer.

mp2s that work in DVDSP 1.5 aren't working for me in 2.0.

    Also Half D1 m2v files aren't accepted.

    Anyone have any comments?

Is an AC3 audio file from ffmpegX a better choice? My source is only stereo.

    Please enlighten me.

if you have a.pack, i'd use that and do ac3 instead of mp2. or if ffmpegx will do ac3 use that too. it should be a smaller size too, than the mp2.

also dsp2 won't accept half d1 at this point. or streams from panny dvd recorders either. not sure if n update will fix this soon or not. more info on the apple dsp forum.

    thanks pants.
    I'll give that a try.
But I'm still wondering why the mp2s created by ffmpegX aren't working in dvdsp2.
I do have other mp2s that were accepted by dvdsp2

i didn't think of this before, but are the mp2's that didn't get into dsp2 48 khz? or are they 41? that'd be the only other thing i can think of.

the sampling frequency is set to 48 khz, not 44.1
they are from the dvd preset, and work in dvdsp1.5

    Okay ... what is up.
When I import the mp2 asset in dvdsp2 it appears like it is working, it goes into the list of assets, then one second later, it disappears.
I can't be the only one having this problem can I?

i don't really have any other advice cause i never work with mp2, cause i always ac3 it to make it smaller. if that's an option for you i'd try that and see if it works for you.

    Hi Pants,
I used ffmpegX to make ac3 audio. funny thing is I imported into dvdsp2, it accepted it no problem. When I used simulator, there was no sound.
I downloaded the ac3 quicktime component and tried to open the ac3 in quicktime... it said it wasn't valid.
Now I guess I can decode to aiff and then encode to ac3 with apack.
This is not something I want to do.

Major... maybe you have an idea whats wrong?

    Thanks for any help.

I'm bringing the back to the top because I still don't have an answer.
Since upgrading to dvdsp 2.0.4 the half d1 issue is not an issue.
But the mp2 issue is still there.
    I tried deleting dvdsp's prefs.
    that didn't help.

Major or anyone? Surely someone else can verify this?
    any solutions?

Forget this sucking mp2 format. You have to use AIFF/AC3 or WAVE in DVDSP2...nor other Formats work!!!
So always the best way is to convert the sound to AC3...but sometimes APack suck and it gives you also no output....
I tried it now long time to make an AC3 Output with Ffmpeg and post it like many others here in the forums but no one from the Authors reply....the AC3 feature is really a FAKE in FFmpeg (
PLZ make a search in this forums and you find may post with all the same Problem - the AC3 files made with ffmpeg are not working since the first version....i don't know why the Authors don't check a feature if they implement it....
so hopefully they will read this post & reply an answer or better have a fix for that...

  11. Use ffmpegX 0.0.9b to encode AC3 compatible with DVDSP2. It is going to be released within one hour.
