For a 1 and a half hour theatrical movie how big would that be uncompressed? Wouldnt that be the best a movie could look, being uncompressed? Also, what is the max resolution of current movies?

  2. You leave a lot to be interpreted in your question.

What formats are you talking about? MPEG1/2? AVI? DIVX?
What media are you talking about in regards to resolution? VCD, SVCD, DVD, HD-DVD?

Im not really sure what format. After they are done filming a movie and editing it. Whatever they are left with.

  4. Maybe he means uncompressed RGB AVI... A 1:30 movie would be huge, tens of gigabytes I *think*.

  5. It depends on the resolution, and desired audio bitrate. For a truely concompressed video and audio 720x480 clip, I would assume ~10mb/s

So for a 1h30min = 5400s = 54GB to be on the safe side I would round that up to 60GB.

Okay, so is there a max resolution a movie can be displayed at? I dont necessarily mean DVDs but overall? Or can the resolution just keep getting better as technology gets better? I guess I just wanna know if there is a point where the quality will be so good that the human eye wont be able to process anything better.

  7. nope i believe mos movies are processes at 1900x1200 but i bet you can scan the negatives at an even higher res if you wanted to. Although as noted before probly a 1900x1200 1:30 hour movie would be a terabyte or two.
