After having a boatload of verification errors upon burning a dvd-r, I cleared out some residue left behind by having conflicting burning programs on my hard drive.
Suddenly, my Lite-on LDW-440D burner verifies fine, and scans media fine with DVDInfo. However, if I go to scan the burned media with DVDInfo on my Lite-on 166 DVD-ROM, I get a ton of read errors on the disc.
I also get playback errors on the 166 that do not happen when playing back on the burner or in a set-top. My questions is, is there a diagnostic utility program that will tell me whether my suspicion that the 166 is bad is, in fact, true? Or any more methodical way to test?
