  1. Ok, after reading thru various forums (tv-cards.com, dvdrhelp.com and others) it seems that i'm not the only one with such scheduler problems. Moreover the symptoms seem to be EXACTLY the same for all of us: after couple of days of perfect operation, it starts to mess up.

    WinDVR3 is a perfect example, PowerVCR starts to behave the same, IuVCR and VirtualVCR exibit similar problems when it comes down to it.

    As a common factor so far i noticed we all have WinXP + SP1, as well as some sort of external tv capture card (bt8x8 and others).

    Please vote in the poll, and use this thread to feedback on this...don't forget to post your exact PC configuration!

    Thanks.

  3. I use virtualVCR with a BT8x card, and TitanTV / NT scheduler on W2k.

    Never had a problem.

    You know what? I just replaced XP SP1 with 2000 SP4 and 2 times out of 2 the scheduler worked !!!!! Very interesting...

    I'm using the enhanced BT8x8 WDM drivers from iulabs.com...

    My guess was XP, but I can't say I'd know for sure. I use the BTwincap drivers. I'm not sure there is any difference. I may take a look at the iuVCR ones.

  7. I recently installed WinDVR3 and had scheduling problems. Howard Cheng of technical support said they recognize they have a problem and are working on a fix. I don't have any problems with WinDVR2.

  9. ok i can now confirm that a fresh install of XP Home Ed. + SP1 + Iulabs enhanced WDM drivers did NOT work !!!!!

    It did in W2K, but not XP+SP1.....

    Does WinDVR2 support SVCD/MPEG2 capture for DVD?

  10. Thanks for the quick replies...i answered it myself.

    WinDVR2 supports Mpeg2, but doesn't want to use LINE-IN as the audio source! So pretty much scheduling works fine in Windvr2, but i have NO SOUND, this is fscking pissing me off

  12. From the time I first installed WinDVR3 the 'weekly' and 'daily' scheduling did not work but the 'one time only' worked fine. So even though it was an inconvenience I took about 10 min every Sunday evening to schedule all of the individual tapings I wanted for the week. I was happily taping about 10 - 20 hours of programming a week for about 2 months.
    Suddenly, one day the application came on at the scheduled time but did not tape. For the next week all of the programs I individually scheduled taped fine then the scheduling stopped working completely. Numerous uninstalls and reinstalls were fruitless. A complete reinstall of WinXP Pro SP1 did not help. I started a back and forth email exchange with Intervideo. Suggestions of updating and rolling back video and capture drivers did not avail. I pointed out forums such as this one which show that my problem is not an isolated one with this application.
    Finally, the technical support person send me a CD with a later build of WinDVR3 ( WinDVR Personal Recorder ). He assured me that this build should take of the problem. Unfortunately, still no success. The application comes on 30 sec prior to the scheduled recording, but the recording action does not initiate.
    His last comment (mid last week ) was that he would check again with their lab folk. I haven't heard anything else back from him so far. I certainly hope they can get this resolved soon. Hopefully someone can figure out what is going on in Windows that prevents the initiation of the record command by the scheduler.

    Hi all,

    Yes, I have lots of scheduler problems - I run WinXP SP1...

    ATIMMC - the scheduler NEVER worked in MPEG format in all countless versions I've tried, I uninstalled/reinstaled diferent versions drivers and aplications countless times,
    ATI support wrote me twice asking for the same information and have been keeping silence since then, I had a feeling by their last mail that they are surprised by this issue......

    WinDVR3 - Intervideo acknowledged it was buggy and posted a new version, if you dw it now it might work;

    WinDVD Recorder - doesn't work, maybe Intervideo is also working on a fix for this ?
    It interferes with WinDVR3 - it deletes WinDVR3's list of channels, so when re-running WinDVR3 I have to load the list again, no "big" problem though;

    Also, still, WinDVR3's behaviour doesn't seem stable enough;

    I am very interested in this topic, I think we should keep it alive until we clear something out,

    Later,

    Andre

    ATI MMC works great for me. I record in mpg. MMC shows the little yellow symbols that mean there is a conflict when shows are on at the same time even though they are different days BUT this doesn't actually cause any problems. The shows record fine. Annoying but no big deal. Is that the same as your problem or is your problem more severe?

    Hi Presto and all,

    Well, I have a long and annoying story with MMC, I wrote to the Forum many times, LordSmurf helped me, but the scheduler never worked for me in MPEG format.

    The application launchs at expected time but doesn't record anything. I know two people with the same problem.

    I indeed quit it sometime ago, decided to do not even try anymore. But then, surprisingly ATI wrote me twice with some suggestions, I tried them, no luck. ATI has now disappeared again.

    I found out WinDVR3 to be a MUCH BETTER program, records in AC3 or LPCM audio, great quality. The only drawbacks are that it doesn't have a frame counter (no big problem though when you have a fast system) and it's not free;

    If ATI writes me again, I'll always try their suggestions, otherwise I'll indeed uninstall MMC;

    Thanks,

    Andre

    I think it's hardware- and/or OS-related. Something on your system does not allow the programs access to the clock/calendar, which is interally held by your hardware, though accessible through the OS.

    I never had consistent trouble with any schedule software of any kinds on any of my systems, video or not. (Only once or twice has something gone wrong, but it was my fault for not rebooting, and it was often after a DVD burn or prolonged use before capture time. But 99.9% of the time it works fine.)

    I never liked Intervideo MPEG capture software (WinDVR, WinDVD Recorder, etc) because it was blended deinterlace captures. Macroblock issues with PowerVCR.

    Something in here ...

    Club3D ATI Radeon 9800Pro w/ official CAT 3.8 drivers + DX9.0b
    Hauppauge WinTV GO (BT878) w/ btwincap drivers
    ... is not cooperating nicely with the OS and software ...

    RAM? Motherboard? OS? Maybe time to take it apart one piece at a time and see what's not ticking right.

    My ATI scheduler works fine EXCEPT when I use the Picvideo
    MJPEG codec. Won' t start sometimes so I use high rate
    I-frame only instead, which isnt as good IMO.
    Never figured out why. Audio always ahead by 650 ms
    with that codec too.
    I guess I should try Huffy to see if it's the codec.

    I've never had an issue on W2k SP4 (and SP3) with IUVCR or PowerVCR. Of course, if you understand how the scheduler works, then generally speaking you won't ever have in issue.

    In XP its nearly always a 'rights' issue. If you don't understand user rights then there's not much you can do. I do know that certain higher security settings deny the use of a DOS window by third party applications, and most scheduled recordings are called that way(not run, but started/invoked). Try running scheduled events under an administrator account (knowing how to do that is another issue).
