  1. i have a .avi file that cant play the audio. when the error comes up it says "audio unsupported/ need new codec. audio data tag 8192"

does anyone know what codec i need to play this audio tag? i have installed ac3 , ffdshow, lame mp3 acm and divx3.11 and 5.

virtualdub cant strip the audio and convert to mp3, TMPGEnc cant convert the audio track either.

i am stuck on this file, any help is greatly appreciated.

    thanks for your time,

Try GSpot - it usually give you a good answer to what's in the AVI.

  3. cool thanks, i went and got gspot and it looks like a cool tool. the problem is gspot says i have the codec installed ac3. then i try to render it with gspot and it says "render partial failure, some of the streams in this movie are in unsupported format"

it gives me the bitrate for the audio, 192kb/s (96/channel, stereo) cbr,and a sampling frequency 48000hz.

    thanks again for the help,
