Ive tried Maxell and Fujifilm DVD+r's. Those two do not work on my Apex dvd player. So I was wondering the best media to use for that drive.

Many standalone DVD players do not support +R,given the age of the AD-600A it's not surprising it won't play +R. I had an AD-600A and sold it because it was too picky about the media brands it would play. Look at this website you may find a firmware update that will allow it to play +R.

  5. I also have an APEX AD-600A. Thus far TDK 4x +R has failed even after upgrading the firmware. I have been able to get Ritek 1x-4x -R to work on it but would like to hear about other -R media since the Ritek only burns at 1x on my 4x writer.

Curiosity led me to read the information on the nerd-out website. The bottom line seems to be that you need to replace the DVD loader in the AD-600A to make it comatible with +R or perhaps even -R. A cheap $30.00 DVd-ROM could replace the loader in the Ad-600A. The website includes instructions on changeing the loader.
