  1. i need to do this with a multi episode 6 dvd9 box set and i dont have a dvd burner so (s)vcd is the way for me, i have done this in the past with my simpsons and family guy dvds and the like and always with average results using no1 dvd ripper, to convert eps to individual mpg, i know its a shit app, but its time to encode vs quality, does any 1 know of a method that strikes a good balance between the 2? its 22 40min ep's over 6 dvds and i intend to spend no longer than a week at it, but id rather have 22cds than let the kids maul 6 dvds that cost €70,

more info: i dont need menus just a method that will keep time and number of cd's down and the quality up to a decent level, ive looked at the guides on the right but would like to here from others that have done this and have proven results good and bad with theyre approach

  2. You can get fantastic results if you put 1 ep per CD. to save time you can encode with either constant bitrate or constant quality (CBR / CQ) 1 pass ..this halves the time you need to encode. use tmpgenc and svcd std template .. at 40 minutes per episode you could even try upping the bitrate till it fills the disc.

  3. I highly recommend Eazy VCD (it's free) for TV episodes. Once you place a disc in your dvd drive, it allows you to select (under program chain) which episode you want to convert and you just have to make certain of the length of each episode as you're converting one at a time. You can select quick or slow speeds for encoding quality and whether you want a VCD/SVCD/XVCD/XSVCD and then rip it. Off to bed or to work and it should be ready after the chores of the day. You can only rip one episode at a time and I have had some difficulty trying to get the program to make an SVCD in conjunction with TMPGEnc plus but for backups of TV shows, which aren't the highest quality DVD anyway, this is a great tool. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

    Hope this helps,
