Hi
I have this player and it pauses and skips tracks on copied discs. THe discs playnfind on other players, so I therefore presume problem is with player. I have read other posts that say i need a firmware upgrade? Is this correct, if so where can i get it and how do i do it? thanks
P.S. i have searched the forum on this question, it has come up before but their are no solutions offered, so hopefuly this time some one can help?
cheers!

can no one help? I am surprised that this question is never answered? Please help.
thanks -
My Yamaha S520 suffered from pauses at random on all disks.
After sniffing about on the web I came to the conclusion that it is atually a Phillips 722 rebadged.
I flashed the newest firmware 4.15.54-0. It was a very scary few minutes, as I wasn't 100% the firmware would work on a yamaha player.
It worked and no pauses since and the player is still region free.
For the firmware and region hacks go to: http://reijndert.homelinux.com/
(Don't forget there is always a risk with flashing firmware - Take care) -
nigel - have you gotten my pm? couldn't post before
anyways - do you remeber what the firmware line said before you flashed?
btvs (buffy ??) - same question - what does your firmware line say (you get it in the "information lime" or some such option in the window)
also, if you upgrade/already upgraded - did it work well ?
thank you both in advance.. -
Hi
I emailed Yahama, and they send me the firmware upgrade, it worked fine, player now never pauses or skips! (well 99%) anyway
I no longer have the email or firmware upgrade, otherwise I would send you it.
Simply go to yahama home page, and email support.
ok
BTVS (yes buffy) -
thanks man, but you haven't answered my quesion
do you remember what the firmware line said before you flashed?
what does it say now ?
hey, thanks again, and good taste in TV though i like angel better myself
unless of course we're talking about buffy S1-3 in which case i totally agree -
Sorry thought I answered it. But probably was not clear.
When I emailed the guy at yamaha he send me the software and the instructions (this included the line before and after for firmware, which will anser your question). Unfortunately I don't remember what it said and have since deleted it. Email support at Yamaha, best way to answer question.
BTVS -
Thank you my friend - but I upgraded it and everything works well now ! 8)
just one thing - when you fast forward right in the beginning of the movie, does your SVCD audio get out of sync? seemed to happen to me once, it only happens when you FF right in the beginning, right?
thanks again
