If you have the money get a digital camcorder be it Digital8 or DV since they work mostly the same.

To capture from the cam you need a FIREWIRE conection. FIREWIRE is also known as IEEE 1394 as well as i.link (that is what SONY calls it).

This will give you the best quality when transfering camcorder footage to the computer.

In fact some digital camcorders (most except the cheapest models) have what is called PASS THRU which allows you to hook up an analog video source to the inputs of the camcorder and then record that analog video to the computer through the camcorder using the FIREWIRE port.

This generally speaking works better than using a analog TV tuner type capture card.

  3. thanks, but still have doubts. My Pc needs a special connection to use the
FIREWIRE conection included in the camcorder or it works with an USB or another port.
how much are the tapes for the DV camcorder(the can be used many times right, like the analog ones?)

That special connection you are referring to is what John was telling you about: A Firewire Card. And yes you can use the tapes multiple times.
