  1. I want to register a domain name but still keep my free hosting at angelfire.com .... I checked out register.com and they have different hosting services but I do not wish to purchase hosting through them at this time. Can I register a domain name and have it redirect to my angelfire webpage so I can keep my free hosting for now but still use the domain name? If anyone has any advice on this please let me know what I should do next.

    Thanks

  2. Yes, any domain name registrar will allow you to host your website wherever you wish. There is no need to purchase hosting facilities. A .co.uk domain can be had for £6.10 for 2 years. That can then be directed to whatever web site you wish.

  3. Ok ... well I just registered a domain name with register.com and im going to use my free angelfire.com hosting to host the site ... I have changed the DNS INFO on the register.com side of it but im not sure what I have to do on the angelfire.com (host) side of it to get my new domain name to direct the browser to my angelfire web site. Anyone know if theres any other steps I need to take?

    Thanks

You sure can re-direct your domain address to your free webpage. Any domain name registrar can do for you.

I've done this myself, a free webpage and then re-directed to this: ChristopherSinclair.Net

You have to get the DNS details from angelfire.com where your webpage is located.

There are two lines DNS to enter into your domain name registration details. Primary DNS and Secondary DNS.

    Check out: http://www.register.com/faq/intl-registration-faq-q9.cgi?1|3737291802|CO1

You have to arrange with your domain name register to re-direct to your original webpage address at angelfire.com. This is called website forwarding or url forwarding.

    Check out: http://www.register.com//url-jump.cgi?1|3737291802|

Normally, you have to pay for the re-direction service and this doesn't cost much at all.

I registered my domain for $10/year at domains410.com, and granitecanyon provides public DNS service for me for free. My host gives me 2gig a month transfer which isn't much BUT its only $17 a YEAR. Works out ok for me.

I found a very cheap domain name registrar: Namecheap.com.

The domain name only cost $8.88 per year. This includes real time DNS updates, free url forwarding and free email forwarding.
