k. if i convert from .avi to dvdr will it look like a dvd? or will it still look kinda crappy (off colours and low bitrate blur stuff) like will that be fixed in teh conversion?

It can be a bit tricky if you ask me BUT you can rip menus from the original DVD discs. However I think you need to create your own subpicture for them (I'm not sure if that can be "ripped") and of course that means in the end you will have to use an advanced authoring program such as DVD Maestro or ... in other words ... something REALLY expensive.

Not worth the effert if you ask me. It is tempting to want to keep the original menu design but it is just too much work unless you use a transcoder such as DVD2ONE or DVDShrink.

The only thing for sure is that things will never improve in the conversion, only get worse. So the best you can hope for is "slightly worse than the AVI" in a AVI to DVD conversion.
