I have a pioneer 106d and i am using ritekGO4 and can only get 2x out of them. I have that others with the same combination are getting speeds faster than this. Im running a 1.7P4 with 512m DDR 2100. I dont think i sould be having any problems burning at faster speeds than i am getting but i just cannot achieve anything faster. ANY SUGGESTIONS??

I have a Pioneer A05 and it burns Ritek G04 disks at 4x every time. How is your machine configured, what are your burning from? Need a bit more info to be able to help.

I get the same speed from authoring programs nero dvd decrypter. You name it i have just about all of them. Ive tried burning just the VIDEO_TS folder and ive tried burning ISO but i always get the same speed. Ive done a speed test with nero and can never get over 1.75x. That has been my best speed yet. I am most sure that my system can handle burning at 4x. Maybe if you could give me an example of how you have yours set up to burn and i can go from there and see if i can change something to help mine burn better. Anything would be much appreciated

UDMA, switch it on.. I'd make a bet that it has got switched off either in BIOS or more likely in Windoze...
Happens a LOT of the time.... -
Now i feel stupid
What is UDMA. How do you check to see if it is turned off in windows? I know how to check the bios but i want to check windows first. How might i do this ??

Depends which version of Windows.. but generally, try right click on My Computer, look for Hardware tab and go down to either IDE controller or HD and look in properties there...
Sorry to be so vague but I'm on a work PC that has NT and everything locked down tighter than a Scotmans arse! -
understandable. Forgot to say in my last post im running window XP Home Ed. Ill check into what you said and see if i can turn out anything.

I'm also on a work pc with NT so can't be exact but I think you should be able to find it. Right click my computer and go to properies, Go to Device Manager and highlight Hard disk controllers (might be called IDE controllers, can't remember) and select Properties. Under one of the tabs (Advanced maybe?) you'll see the settings for each IDE channel. There is a drop down that will have either PIO mode only or DMA when available. You will almost certainly find that at least one of them says PIO mode only when it needs to say DMA when available. Apply the changes and you should now burn at 4x.
My brother replaced an 8x CD writer with a 52x CD rewriter and found that it was taking over 20 minutes to burn a 74 minute audio CD. Changed to DMA when available and the same job now takes under 2 minutes. -
Update the firmware from pioneer.

Dont piss me off because Im running out of places to hide the bodies. -
I malready running firmware 1.07. I have figured out my problem. I had my burner connnected to a PCI IDE controller card. Ultra 133. It works fine for hard drives but does not work well with any type of burner. I switch my cable around and now im pushing 3.7x to 3.95x.
Thanks to everyone for helping out.

Are you a poofter or something,Don't you know we Scots are proud to have tight arse's,We still have the cobwebs to prove it,Suppose it's better to be like that than your lot(Who i'm sure we all know the name of),So maybe if you would stop being shafted up your A'Hole by your Grandma's big Pink Cigar then you would obviously realise this,Rather than using your stubby BASIL fingers. -
a friend of mine bought this burner, but he can't find the drivers off the pionner website, can anyone tell me where can i get them? or maybe pm, and send them though mail, or whatever P2P
thanks in advance -
