Cost/Benefit analysis. Basically just looking to copy my old VHS tapes and Hi-8 tapes to digital w/ minimal effort and cost. For the Hi-8, I now have a Sony 350 D-8 camera in which I can run the old tapes.
So, with that in mind (and again, NOT looking to getting into much editing right now), here are the low costs I've seen:
Lite-On @ $199 at Best Buy
E50 @ $386 at Wal Mart
E60 @ $488 at Wal Mart
Certainly, I'm looking for compatability, but how can I justify spending almost $300 more for the E60 over the Lite-On, when both have the Firewire input? Also, from most of the posts I've read, that the E50 is favored over the E60. Thanks.

Just saw the Best Buy add myself and am curious about the Lite-On. Unless the quality is substantially bad, I find it hard to pass up on this unit. If anyone has any experience with it, please let us know!

Liteon is cheap stuff but if you can get a longer guarantee on it you should.
I think those prices for the panasonics seem a little high but try buydig.com & see what they charge.
