Once you rip the VOBs from your DVD, join and encode them to SVCD MPEG-2 format. Burn them as an SVCD. Check for the proper guide(s) in the RIP, Convert, and Author sections at left.

  3. Ok so one of those guides will show me how to convert a DVD-R to a two or three .mpg files so its a lot smaller than a DVD-R?

I can't find the guide. There all avi, etc to DVD. I see no DVD to mpg or SVCD

Once the files have been ripped, you can change the file extension to.mpg of all the VOBs, and go from there.

Or, you can load the VOBs one by one into Virtual Dub mod, and frameserve them to TMPGEnc Plus.

  7. @max2, every single DVD Backup guide which uses CDR as it's target, will be good for your purpose. Even my guides which show you how to do a VCD are good for you, just use SVCD instead of VCD and you'll get what you want.
