Newbie Help...Converting Windows Video to DVD

Really new to this so sorry for the stupidity. Cannot seem to locate any self help links for converting my digital video from my Canon zr45 to a dvd. What is the best software to use? Any help would be appreciated. Hopefully I am posting this in the right place too.

First, read the beginner's guides, as they will save you time down the road. Next you want to capture your camcorder video to your computer. Look for a good guide in the Capture section. Now, you need to convert this captured video to a format your authoring program can use. Look in the Convert section for a good guide. Then, you will need to Author and burn the converted files. Look for tips in the Author section.
